　　Baker Hughes: US rig count up 2 units to 457

　　The US drilling rig count increased by 2 units to reach 457 rigs working for the week ended May 28, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is up 156 units from the 301 rigs working this time a year ago.

　　The number of rigs drilling on land was up 2 units week-over-week with a total of 442. The number of rigs drilling offshore was unchanged at 14.

　　US oil-directed rigs were up 3 units from last week at 350. This time a year ago, 222 units were drilling for oil. Rigs targeting gas decreased 1 unit to 98, 21 more than were drilling for gas at this time a year ago.

　　Of the major oil and gas-producing states, Texas saw the largest increase. A 4-rig gain brought the rig count to 218 for the week.

　　Oklahoma gained 2 rigs to reach 28 running for the week.

　　Pennsylvania dropped 2 rigs and stands and stands at 17 rigs running. New Mexico and Colorado dropped a single rig each to hit 71 and 9 rigs for the week.
