US crude-oil exports surged to their highest in more than two years last week, reaching 4.3 million barrels a day in a move possibly linked to the war and efforts to reduce other nations' purchases of crude. "Strong exports have been driven by a pull to Europe and we should expect strength in the weeks ahead," says Kpler's Matt Smith. The big increase in exports is one of the reasons for a huge, 8-million-barrel weekly drop in US crude-oil inventories.
