????Baker Hughes: Canada sees double-digit drop in rigs
????Canada dropped 22 rigs for the week ended Mar. 5, according to Baker Hughes data. With 141 rigs running, the count is 62 rigs fewer than the 203 units drilling this week a year ago. The number of oil-directed rigs in Canada fell by 12, bringing the count to 80 rigs for the week. Gas-directed rigs were down 10 to 61 units.
????In the US, 403 rigs were working for the week, up 1 from a week ago. The count is down 390 units from the 793 rigs working this time a year ago.
????At 389 rigs working, 4 additional units were drilling on land vs. last week. Offshore units fell by 3 to 14 for the week. The number of rigs drilling in inland waters was unchanged at 0.
????US oil-directed rigs increased by 1 unit from last week to 310 units working. The count is down 372 rigs from a year ago. Gas-directed rigs remained unchanged at 92, and down from the 109 units drilling for gas a year ago.
????Among the major oil and gas-producing states, Texas saw the largest gain with an additional 5 units drilling for the week to reach 202.
????Nine states were unchanged this week: Pennsylvania, 20; Oklahoma, 17; West Virginia, 11; Colorado, 8; Ohio, 7; California, 7; Wyoming, 5; Alaska, 3; and Utah, 3.
????Louisiana dropped 2 units to 45, while New Mexico and North Dakota dropped 1 unit each to reach 61 and 13, respectively.
